Consecration and Crossing Nation

Dec 14, 2025    Pastor Joel Denney

Pastor Joel examines Israel's crossing of the Jordan River in Joshua 3 as a powerful illustration of faith in action. He emphasizes that before God performs wondrous works through His people, He calls them to consecrate themselves—to purify and set themselves apart wholly for His use. His central focus is on the Ark of the Covenant as the representation of God's presence, demonstrating that His promises and presence are the only two pillars needed to step out in faith. Pastor Joel challenges believers to move from "potential faith" (merely believing) to "kinetic faith" (faith demonstrated through obedient action). Just as the priests had to step into the overflowing Jordan before God stopped the waters, believers must step in obedience before seeing God's provision. He warns against allowing sin and disobedience to keep us from entering the spiritual inheritance and rest that Christ has already secured for us.
