Just Keep Walking
In this sermon from Colossians 2:1-7, Pastor Joel addresses the critical need for believers to remain steadfast in the gospel they have received, resisting the temptation to seek new knowledge or teachings beyond Christ. He emphasizes that all wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Jesus Christ, and that believers need nothing more than what they have already received through the gospel. Paul's heart for the Colossian church was that they would be encouraged, knit together in love, and fully assured in their understanding of God's mystery—which is Christ himself. Pastor Joel warns against false teachings that appear attractive but ultimately undermine faith, comparing them to misleadingly attractive bait on a mousetrap. Christians are called to continue walking in Christ as they received Him—by simple faith in the gospel—remembering that it was the gospel, not novel teachings, that transformed their lives. He concludes with a call to hold fast to the sufficiency of Christ's work on the cross.
