A Kingdom of Priests
Pastor Joel walks through Exodus 19, in which God invites Israel into a covenant relationship at Mount Sinai, calling them to be his treasured possession, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. He draws direct parallels between Israel's calling and the calling of the New Testament church, emphasizing that believers today are likewise called to be a holy priesthood and a set-apart people who serve as witnesses to a lost world. In the second half , Pastor Joel addresses the critical question of how Christians relate to the Mosaic Law, arguing from the New Testament that believers are not bound by any aspect of the Mosaic Law, whether ceremonial, civil, or moral, because the law was never intended to justify anyone but rather to reveal sin and point humanity forward to Jesus Christ, the only one who perfectly fulfilled it. Salvation is found not in law-keeping but in faith in Jesus, and the moral standard of God, reflected in the law, is now lived out under the law of grace through love for God and love for one another.
